The major mobile radio suppliers in the United States are putting their faith in CDMA2000 1x. CDMA stands for code division multiple access, a technology that has spread quickly throughout Korea and Japan with a lot of proponents in the United States as well. Morgan Stanley is expecting that more than 65 percent of mobile radio subscribers will be using GPRS or CDMA2000 1x by 2004 in the United States . |

CDMA2000 is being rolled out in several phases in the United States . As CDMA2000 1x, this technology effects initial transmission rates ranging from 144 to 307 kBit/s.
The CDMA2000 3x third-generation will providing a transmission rate ranging up to 2.4 MBit/s from 2004 on.
