When Data Float on Global Clouds of Internet ( BNN) |
|
| |
... This is a true story: You're sitting in some airport lounge with your laptop and you're supposed to send a brief report to the boss. That wasn't easy earlier when there was just radio transmission. But, adisoft AG, a Karlsruhe-based company for mobile data communication, has been putting its customers on "wireless internet clouds" for quite a while. They showcased their product together with their business partner ARtem. „We offer people access to all of their information no matter where they are," as Johannes-Georg Voll, the chairperson of the management board of adisoft put it. Thanks to a convenient user interface, you can access any service via radio transmission with a click of the mouse.

…This is a true story: You're sitting in some … with your laptop.
adisoft's mission is interfacing mobile equipment to corporate networks and that's why it came up with the MOBILEmanager®, an application that functions as the link between mobile workstations and the applications in the corporate network. MOBILEmanager® allows workers on the road to access internet, email, groupware and CRM- or ERP programs.

MOBILEmanager® gives you fast data access even from far away (EBIGO, 02/2003)) |
|
| |
The MOBILEmanager® functions as the link between mobile workstations and the applications in the corporate network giving you mobile access to all of the applications in the corporate network attached with TCP/IP ranging from the internet browser, email, groupware and CRM or SFA applications, ERP/PPS software right down to various host emulations. This product is a pure software application that is integrated into the existing computer system without having to change the present hardware or software systems. adisoft also says it is also extremely flexible in the choice of transmission media. No matter whether it's wireless LAN or GSM, GPRS, ISDN or modem, internet via DSL or virtual private networks (VPN), MOBILEmanager® connects you up automatically. Thanks to a multiple-stage security strategy, you can exchange data between external workstations and the corporate network without fear of eavesdropping. Simultaneously, data are compressed and processed so that transmission is dramatically accelerated to cut communication costs.

Work Comes to People (NetworkWorld, November 2002) |

In the end, let's take a look at a slim product from adisoft just as a contrast to those relatively expensive mobile office applications from Cisco and Siemens. MOBILEmanager® is a client/server application that interfaces external workstations to corporate networks in a variety of different ways: mobile radio technologies such as GSM, the general packet radio service (GPRS) or using a modem or ISDN for fixed networks. Users then have applications available in the corporate network that are attached to TCP/IP, for instance Notes/Domino and Outlook or host emulations. The manufacturer states that one highlight of MOBILEmanager® is the fact that it's a pure software application, meaning it is not necessary to re-configure existing LAN and VPN connections or routers or their equipment to the access points. A MOBILE-
manager® server is installed in the corporate network between the router and firewall and the corresponding client is installed on the terminals of the mobile workers. Multiple-stage user authentification makes sure that the data arrive at the right address. You can use either a user ID, a password or the serial number of the client or terminal. A firewall built into the server uses these data to establish what computer the client may access in a local network or VPN.

The Karlsruhe-based adisoft AG is showcasing technologies for homebanking, on-line brokerage and communications and the UNIFIED BANKING product family includes homebanking on-line brokerage on a client/server basis. It encompasses a server allowing individually adjustable access to the essential control functions in the form of an internet platform and supports terminals such as PCs, notebooks, pocket PCs, handhelds and SMS/WAP mobile phones.
It can operate the banking server in the supplier's computer centre or as an ASP application. Beyond this, adisoft also introduced the „MOBILEmanager®“ that allows access to applications and data from competence networks regardless of your location and independent of the communication service used (GSM, HSCSD, GPRS, ISDN or dialling into internet): The manufacturer says it can double the transmission speed on the average via data compression and protocol enhancement. On the client level, the MOBILEmanager® supports all current Microsoft operating system versions including WindowsCE, Palm OS and Linux." |

Passports by Radio transmission
(E-Business , 10/2001) |
|

„The Polish authorities put their trust in radio transmission and their civil servants use mobile phones, but not for phoning. 2,500 Polish cities use the GSM network to transmit data from applications for passports to the Polish Ministry of the Interior with a PC establishing the connection with a mobile phone. The Berlin-based adisoft that is responsible for the software asserts that this form of data transmission overtaxed Poland 's old fixed network, although the company doesn't want to say anything else because the Polish govern swore it to secrecy. By the way, Germany 's Federal Bureau of Investigation has already checked the security of this technique."

Enhanced Data Compression
(IT-Banker 01/2001) |
|
| |
„Regardless of the communication service, companies can scale down their transmission costs with the latest version of ‚MOBILEmanager®'. Transmission is as much as 25 times faster due to enhanced data compression. The new MOBILEmanager® software version is a highly flexible IT application. It allows users reliable and efficient access to applications and data from corporate networks regardless of your location based upon a patent pending protocol specially developed for radio networks. Once configured, it not only allows you to use applications through the fixed networks at home, but also with mobile applications without having to change settings. User acceptance is also heightened by the fact that it is easy to use and there are numerous security features such as user identification, individualised access authorisation, client serial number check and caller number check. The new version allows the user to double transmission speeds on the average, thus cutting costs in half. This augmented performance comes from enhanced data compression and other forms of protocol enhancement. Laboratory tests have shown that compressed HTML pages are transmitted four times faster on the average and the augmented third parties rate is even more apparent with text documents. MOBILEmanager® 4.50 transfers Word documents as much as 25 times faster.”
